Appearing at the 4th Logistics DX Conference on 28 October: The Blind Spots Facing Japan's 3,250 CLOs

Appearing at the 4th Logistics DX Conference on 28 October: The Blind Spots Facing Japan's 3,250 CLOs

A joint session by three companies: Noriya Usami, CEO of Selfit; Naoto Takayanagi, head of the logistics division at Fujitex; and Ariki Ono, CEO of Nexgen Japan. Taking as its starting point the appointment of Chief Logistics Officers required under Japan's revised Logistics Efficiency Act, the session will set out in concrete terms how the three companies worked together to cut loading and waiting times and raise load factors, and what that work revealed about how a CLO should approach the job.

LOGISTICS TODAY
4th Logistics DX Conference 2026, "The Implementation"

The Blind Spots Facing Japan's 3,250 CLOs: What Three Companies Have Put into Practice

(Special session, Wednesday 28 October, 10:35 to 11:05 JST)

Speakers

  • Noriya Usami (CEO, Selfit Inc.)
  • Naoto Takayanagi (Head of Logistics Division, Fujitex Co., Ltd.)
  • Ariki Ono (CEO and Logistics AI Architect, Nexgen Japan Inc.)

A preview of the session

Since the revised Logistics Efficiency Act took effect in April 2026, shippers above a certain size in Japan have been required to appoint a Chief Logistics Officer (CLO). Appointing one is the easy part. Whether the new CLO has the data needed to make decisions is another matter.

The session is expected to cover:

  • Why three companies joined forces: a delivery network (Selfit), operational improvement on the ground (Fujitex) and AI and data technology (Nexgen Japan), and how those perspectives came together
  • What we are building: synCLO, a CLO dashboard designed for the revised Act that visualises waiting times, loading and unloading times and load factors and helps prepare the periodic reports, together with an SCM management diagnostic
  • What we learnt by doing it ourselves: why handing over a tool rarely changes how a site operates, the obstacles companies run into, and a practical assessment method for making waiting times, loading and unloading times and load factors visible

The rest, including what comes next, will be saved for the session itself.
